NOVA Montreal
NOVA Montreal Children’s Respite Program has been providing, free of charge, in-home respite care to parents of children between 0 and 6 years of age who have a chronic illness, a physical disability, an intellectual disability or both, since 1999. Priority is given to families who are having difficulty coping with their severely disabled children and who do not have an established support system. Thanks to this much needed service, parents get emotional support at a very difficulty period in their lives and have the confidence to leave home to do errands, spend time with their spouse, other children and friends, or just to catch up on much needed sleep. This third year of financial support from the Zhubin Foundation will help ensure the continuation of a vital service to Montreal families.
In her presentation to our guests, Ms. Marla Stovin, Executive Director of NOVA Montreal, mentioned that thanks to support from The Zhubin Foundation they were able to extend their geographic reach to respond to families in need outside their territory, add a volunteer, and provide extra care in special circumstances.
